New video footage of Killer 7 in action as we round up all the facts known thus far...
Capcom today sent us video footage of one of the most amazing games weāve ever seen. Despite being some way off yet, āKiller 7ā has rightfully won universal acclaim for its diverse visual appearance and what should usher in a new gaming experience ā“ particularly compared to the usual bright and breezy appearance of more traditional GameCube releases.
Slowly weāve been able to piece together details on what to expect from the game. Judging by recent comments from the gameās producer, Shinji Mikami, the game will incorporate a new travel system that controls more like a racing game then typical action/adventure titles. Players will be able to accelerate their character along paths, with certain points offering the players different directions; whilst itās merely speculation on our behalf at this stage, weāre already conjuring up images of frantic gun chases amongst crowded scenes and all manner of cinematic effects.
The video also lets us in on a few details regarding the story, much of which has remained a secret much like the game mechanics. As weāve already known in the past, the game is set in the present day. In a world paranoid by terrorism, the four major powers united to create an anti-terrorist organisation to eradicate all āthe weeds of evil and disorderā. As a result the International Society stopped all air transportation and closed every network station in a short span of two years to reduce the likelihood of terrorism.
However how this ties into the story of the main character, Herman Smith, who despite his aged appearance remains the most deadly assassin in the world, is anyoneās guess at present. Itās believed that Smith can take on seven different personalities within the game, details of which can be found here.
Along with the present day the game is also set in 2005, based on Mikami-san comments itās claimed that your actions that unfold in the present day will go onto shape what you see in 2005. These types of claims have been made in the past, however itās not going to stop us imagining how fantastic it could be ā“ as long as they get the game out before 2005 that is.
Other details we know at this point suggest the game will be a mix of third-person action and first-person gunfights, presumably allowing the player to switch between these at will with the touch of a shoulder button.
