It might not be Mario Party but it is the first party game on the Xbox. Gather your friends and prepare for a multiplayer session.
Get your mates together and prepare for a Gladiator style party.
Fuzion Frenzy is the first party-game on the Xbox console; with stiff opposition from games like Mario Party can this game prove to be a success? We sit down after a night on the town and talk about this multiplayer party game.
Party Games became big business in 2000 with Mario Party on the 64 proving to be a real success, soon after the genre became quite swamped with replicas that couldnât quite match the quality Nintendo set with Mario Party. A few years later and Microsoft have presented us with a new multiplayer party game, with up-to-date graphics, new and old games, can it compare with Mario Party, read on to find out.
Fuzion Frenzy is very much like Mario party there are a whole stack of mini games to play, and ultimately the player with the most diamonds at the end wins. There are a number of modes in the game, however the main option sees you passing through stages to complete an arena, at the end of each arena there is a âFuzion Frenzyâ where you get to gamble your collected Diamonds for even more. There are a total of six urban environments and in total 45 mini-games for you and your friends to battle it out on.
The game features lots of different mini games some of these are incredibly original and very enjoyable. Some of the most memorable ones are the Gladiator style âAtlasphereâ where you are controlling a Ball Cage; here you need to hit your opponents of the edge of the circle arena. As the time runs out the arena gets smaller and smaller making it harder to stay on. Other games include a âSnakeâ style fight where you need to race around in a hover craft leaving a tail, the aim is to make your opponents hit your tail without hitting someone elseâs. Unfortunately the mini-games are not consistent enough meaning that some of them are very good, however the majority are either boring or just too frustrating. This is a great shame because this game had the potential to be a great title for a multiplayer party.
The graphics unfortunately are uninspiring and do not show what the Xbox is capable of, however with a game of this style the graphics are not exactly an essential area for the game to excel in. The character models are funky and varied however as individuals they offer very few differences between each other.
