Dark times have spread over the world of Gaia. Four separate governing nations, some blinded by their shortsighted greed, some persevering in the name of justice, are battling on and off in a deadly game for power.
One kingdom, that of Lindblum, headed by the honorable and trustworthy Regent Cid, finally decides to take a stand against the unspeakable massacres by the troops of Alexandria.
Enlisting the aid of mere bandits to kidnap Princess Garnet of the Alexandria Empire, for information and interrogation, Garnet and her bodyguard actually join Cid\'s cause, knowing full well the outlandish recklessness of the governing Queen, who counterattacks with an onslaught of warriors. Thus begins a crossfire that would engulf the world in something far worse than political standoffs.
Out of the band of thieves, one boy along with his entourage must battle his way through several awe-inspiring challenges to restore order and peace.
And so the game beginsâ¦
Square seam to be very good at producing something that is so different yet so very much the same. Everybody loved Final Fantasy VII, nearly everyone loved Final Fantasy VII, and you can guarantee that the world will once again be gripped by the latest installment in the series Final Fantasy IX.
Squaresoft have taken a step back with FFIX, as well as a giant leap forward. The game returns to the style of the old FF games, with mythological creatures, knights in shinning Armour, and some of the most impressive spells and characters youâve ever seen.
There are so many moments within Final Fantasy IX that will leave you talking about them for years to come, there were a number of occasions where we were left thinking âOh my Godâ and even more times we laughed out load.
The graphics are the best ever seen in a Final Fantasy game, the pre-rendered backgrounds are fantastic, and the FMV sequences are just too delicious to describe. As before there are loads of cut-scenes throughout the game really pulling you into the game, itâs isnât long before you feel part of the game.
The storyline will keep you gripped from start to finish, and the adventure will become such a joy to play, you wonât be able to put it down. There are tons of mini-quest and sub-games to keep you amused for hours, and even when you complete the game youâll want to try again to see how many cards or special treasures you can collect.
A new addition to the series is the Active Time Event system, which lets you see what other characters are getting up to. At times they become quite funny and it will leave you gasping to see what happens next.
Comments
Final Fantasy IX is certainly stunning in ever respect. Squaresoft are one of the exceptional few game companies who can release a game franchise without dragging it on making it a money-making mediocrity. Will the Final Fantasy series ever end? We hope not.
