Evil Dead: Hail to the King Preview

Hail to the King Baby, Bruce is on the dreamcast.
Remember a certain film called Evil Dead? You know the one with that scene which showed a tree molesting a hapless women in such a manner far too graphic and disturbing for the viewing public at the time, which ended up getting it banned? Well there is a video game in production that is based around this veritable blood bath of a movie. It is obviously not going to dwell on the previously mentioned scene, instead the main aspect will no doubt be the evasion a destroying of the vast amounts of living dead you will encounter.
Gameplay will be fast moving and hectic affair. Intended to keep you on the edge of your seats just like the actual movies did. You take control of Ash, who has returned to this desolate and evil place to kill off some more of the godless nasties that roam the area. You have the ability to execute some witty one liners which will either annoy or scare the creatures ahead of you. Strange but true, as well as that you have a chainsaw in one hand, which sounds like tremendous fun to us and the ability to pick up all manner of weapons which are available.
The game is already looking very faithful to the movie as it happens, the horrid trees and creepy atmosphere has been created very well. The monsters, while having fairly basic animation at the moment, look very nice, well as nice as a rotting corpse can look anyway. They far out do the playdoh figures present in the film. Expect a nice array of effects and blood in the final version coupled with a fast moving camera, intended to mimic those of the films in the series.
This game will have a very chilling soundtrack complete with the usual moans and groans found in these types of games. Expect some cringe-worthy chainsaw to flesh noises as well as Bruce's trademark one-liners.
This looks like it is going to be excellent and has a mass of potential. Lets just hope it is done properly, otherwise many people (including me) will be very annoyed. Keep an eye out for this one come this autumn. More news as we have it. But for now enjoy these wonderful screenshots.
