Dragons Lair 3D

In 1983 Dragons Lair was first created and could be found in arcades everywhere. Now 16 years later, after releases on several formats its about to get a 3D makeover.

Once again the gamer will take control of âDirk the Daringâ in his quest to rescue the princess from the clutches of an evil dragon. In order to progress you must fight your way through 19 huge levels, set in 17 uniquely designed areas. Of course these days, everything must be in 3D and Dragons Lair 3D is no exception with the game being set in a realtime 3D modeled world.

All the characters from the original have been redesigned Don Bluth, who created the figures in films such as âAn American Taleâ, âThe Land Before Timeâ and âPetes Dragonâ. With 12 different boss monsters and 30 different types of creatures to battle against the game certainly offers a vast challenge.

Bringing back such a widely respected arcade classic is a potentially risky move. But with Dragons Lair 3D due out in the first quarter of 2001 it is obviously at an early stage of development, and developer Blue Byte has plenty of time to make sure it is a worthy follow up to its predecessor.
