Club Football Preview

Codemasters look to overthrow Konami & EA with a football title that promises to be very different.
We first brought you details about the ambitious football title currently in development at Codemasters last year; the UK based publisher and developer plans to release 15 different versions of the game on the Playstation2 + Xbox, each based on a particular club!
The most important question is what clubs can we expect to see; well it appears that Codemasters have spared no expense in grabbing the licenses, this isnāt just a collection of conference league teams but pretty much every major club in Europe!
Teams
- AC Milan Club Football / San Siro
- Ajax Club Football / Amsterdam ArenA
- Arsenal Club Football / Highbury
- Aston Villa Club Football / Villa Park
- FC Barcelona Club Football / Camp Nou
- FC Bayern München Club Football / Olympic Stadium
- Borussia Dortmund Club Football / Westfalenstadion
- Chelsea Club Football / Stamford Bridge
- Hamburger SV Club Football / AOL Arena
- FC Internazionale Club Football / San Siro
- Juventus Club Football / Stadio Delle Alpi
- Leeds United Club Football / Elland Road
- Liverpool FC Club Football / Anfield
- Manchester United Club Football / Old Trafford
- Rangers Club Football / Ibrox Park
Fortunately this isnāt just an aesthetic feature but pivotal to the actual title; everything in the game is tailored to the club in question, from the packaging to the menu system, making this a dream come true for football fanatics (as long as you support one of the clubs above)!
In a genre dominated by Pro Evolution and FIFA, any new football title has to offer something different or special if it hopes to gain any significant sales or share of the market. Weāve seen many come and try and ultimately fail; however by securing these licenses and giving fans the most authentic football experience yet, odemasters may just have stumbled upon the winning ingredient.
Unlike other football games, acquiring the rights to each individual club, gives the developers the chance to create the most authentic experience possible; not only do players faces resemble their real-life counterparts, but the players exact dimensions, playing styles and various other attributes have been painstakingly researched and recreated.
The stadiums will also be replicated with the same meticulous attention to detail; Codemasters claim that when you step out on to the turf it will be quite unlike any other football game; a bold claim, but when the crowd is singing the chants that youād expect and even the announcers chime in, well you get the idea, this is one to get excited aboutā¦
Our sources at Codemasters today revealed some juicy information regarding the actual gameplay; players can expect three main game modes, although only two have been revealed to us:
Domestic Season
Players can choose from a full or half season as they guide the club to glory; unfortunately no specific information has been revealed, however weāre expecting this to have more depth then what previous football games have given before.
European Super League
The fabled league may still be a pipe dream, however pick up Club Football and you can join Europeās best to find out once and for all who is the best team in Europe.
Realising the strengths of FIFA and Pro Evolution, the development team are eager to capture the balance between both games; weāve been tantalisingly told that Club Football will offer the accessibility and fun of FIFA with a level of depth that will appeal to Pro Evolution fans. If Codemasters can achieve this balance, then Club Football could very well knock Pro Evo off the top spot!
Weāve also been assured that youāll be able to create your own player through an extensive create character mode; without a shadow of a doubt, this is the nearest Iām going to get to walking out on the Theatre of Dreams, and should realise the dream of football fans up and down the country.
