Bombermans here, time to stop everything...
When a new machine is released you can count on one little character making an appearance, regardless of what machine it is. Yep youāve guessed it Bomberman, keeping gamers going since 1990.
The latest Bomberman title makes its appearance on Nintendoās new baby, the Gameboy Advance, and Iām happy to say itās back to the old Bomberman we all know and love. Forget solo player missions and 3D worlds, this is pure, unadulterated, mindless multiplayer fun, a true return to form.
OK so thereās a single player in there, but for the main stay Bomberman Tournament is always going to be about hooking up 4 GBAās and indulging in a bit of bombing fun wherever you may be.
For the uneducated few, Bombermanās joy lies in its simplicity. You and three opponents face each other in an arena, the idea is to place bombs strategically trapping the enemy and thus blowing them to kingdomācome. The last man standing is the winner, simple as that. Along the way youāll uncover a variety of power-upās that range from, increasing your bomb capacity to switching your opponents controls, highly amusing.
Although I dismissed it earlier, Bomberman Tournament does contain quite a good single player mode. The Quest Mode is actually more akin to an RPG, taking elements from Zelda and Pokemon and is worthy of a title on its own. However being the Bomberman purist that I am, itās the multiplayer modes that kept me hooked.
