Metal Gear Solid creator suggests a ZoE sequel is on his mind, as soon as he finally lets go of Metal Gear Solid...
The European PlayStation blog has recently posted a belated interview from Gamescom with Hideo Kojima. Responding to questions from the community regarding a possible update to the popular mech space-opera series, Zone of Enders, Kojima-san suggested that a sequel is certainly on the cards.
"A lot of the users gives us lots of love calls about Zone of the Enders especially," Kojima-san told the PS blog. "We actually do love the tile as well at Kojima Productions and we always want to create on the next-gen as well."
"However Kojima Productions has a long list of things that we want to bring out, and of course Zone of the Enders is one of... at the top of the list. However we have to manage staffing and work around the projects, so it's not going to be too soon but we are really considering it."
Kojima-san also revealed that the Metal Gear Solid series is in safe hands once he finally decides to let go, suggesting that a new direction will emerge once his "young staff" finally get their hands on it.
"... what I created for the past twenty years or so, that's the world that I created so I want people to expect something more of a bigger scope, of a bigger world than Metal gear Solid."
"If I pass on to my young staff I think there will be only a new Metal Gear with a new thinking, new involvement. I kept 100% my world of Metal Gear Solid with the titles I have presented before, it means I can step back as a producer and I'm looking forward to what my younger staff will create, a new world or colour to the MGS franchise."
