Mini-game missing, but hostesses included in full this time...
SEGA’s Yakuza 4 will be making it over to the west relatively intact, with only one arcade mini-game removed. The full complement of hostess side-stories are included this time, so that western gamers can enjoy the full range of experiences on offer in the game.
Fans were up in arms when SEGA localised Yakuza 3 without the hostess elements (citing time constraints as the reason for the omission). For Yakuza 4, only quiz game Answer X Answer has been removed, as it featured text in images which was impossible for the localisation team to untangle. The game’s opening video has also been changed, as the original song had to be removed due to licensing issues.
Other than that, the full game is intact. Even the extensive groom-a-hostess mini-quest makes it into the western release this time (hint: forcing her to wear make-up and coloured contacts makes her self-esteem drop precipitously).
Yakuza 4 is out on March 18th.
