Xbox 360 Sales Rise After Price Cut News

36% increase in UK sales of the Microsoft console less than a week after its recent price drop...

UK hardware and software sales tracker, ChartTrack, have today confirmed that sales of the Xbox 360 have risen by over a third, days after Microsoft dropped the RRP of the three 360 SKUs.

In a statement released to UK trade mag MCV, ChartTrack director Dorian Bloch commented that the jump in sales was, "a nice refreshing uplift for the console," and that, "Microsoft will be especially pleased to see that the overall hardware market was down - that's every format except PS3, which saw a very slight six per cent rise."

A jump in sales following the price cuts, which saw the Xbox 360 Arcade SKU drop below the price of Wii in the UK, was naturally expected. That said, Bloch remained cautious:

"We need to wait two or three more weeks to see if the 360 sales surge will carry on. I would predict that it will increase again over the Easter period."

Microsoft has been under pressure in recent months to deliver a second Xbox 360 price cut, with the performance of both PlayStation 3 and Wii gathering pace.
