Xbox 360

Microsoft today revealed its hand at Tokyo Game Show, with the surprising announcement of an update that will allow the Xbox 360 to output 1080p games and videos with the Fall update - take that Sony it seems.

With the promise of over 110 different 360 title available in Japan before Christmas, including Mystwalker's Blue Dragon, Microsoft continued to pledge support for the troubling territory with confirmation of a Pac-Man World Tournament also set to commence in 2007.

Further titles on display including Capcom's Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, Trusty Bell from Namco-Bandai and a host of Xbox Live Arcade titles. Microsoft also took the opportunity to announce a new, epic role-playing-game by the name of Infinite Undiscovery, a Tri-Ace title revealed in the pages of Famitsu earlier in the week. Xbox Live Arcade titles on display at Microsoft's booth include Contra, Gyruss, Dig-Dug, Track & Field, New Rally-X, Rush'n Attack, Ms Pac-Man and a Japanese exclusive in the form of Yie Ar Kung Fu.

Confirming the release of the HD-DVD player in Japan on November 17th for 19,800 Yen, Peter Moore, corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft, commented "Xbox 360 and the HD DVD Player together deliver the most powerful and affordable games and movie system for Japanese consumers" before adding, "The freedom to choose their entertainment experiences is extremely important for consumers as they enter the next generation."

"The key to winning the hearts and minds of the Japanese market is great games, and this great lineup demonstrates that Xbox 360 has those games in spades," said Moore. "Our lineup of role-playing games from the acknowledged masters of the genre is proof positive that there has never been a better time for Japanese gamers to jump in and pick up an Xbox 360 system."

lol if this dumb a.ss move by microsoft actually happens (live annual subscription up to £80 a year) then considder the 360 100% dead, they should lower the cost not up it like they did with the arcade in september (was £130 now £160) and its all to do with the euro exchange only the in the UK we use pounds not sh.it.ty euros.
