Xbox 360 Arcade Goes Internal News

Microsoft apparently confirms that the entry-level SKU will now feature 256MB of internal memory instead of a 256MB memory card...

As rumours of the Xbox 360's latest motherboard update to codename Jasper spread around the web, news has emerged from the US that Microsoft has also implemented 256MB of on-board Flash memory to the Xbox 360 Arcade.

The entry-level SKU of the console has up till now been sold with a 256MB memory card, but in a statement to Xbox360Fanboy, Microsoft confirmed that the Arcade unit will instead focus on internal memory. It does seem that the decision was made as a result of the 128MB of space needed for the New Xbox Experience, which has already caused Microsoft to issue a memory unit scheme to help those without the necessary space for the update.

The statement confirmed that, “We are constantly updating the console's more than 1700 internal components. We can confirm that we are moving to internal memory for the Xbox 360 Arcade. The physical internal memory is the same size as the previous external memory units – 256MB.”

It's unclear when the updated Arcade SKUs will make their way to retail.

	By: Anonymous Added:Thu 04th Jun 2009 06:02, Post No: 377 yes the price of the hdd is very expencive in comparison to a 1tb hdd but you can only get a 1tb drive on a pc, what if m$ did bring out a 1tb hdd for the 360 what kind of price do you think m$ is going to charge for it $300 minimum. all you need to do is look at how much sony upped the price of the ps3 when they launched the 160gb ps3, just compare the price of an 80gb ps3 to a 160gb then just take a guess at how much a 1tb ps3 would be.

I can buy an external USB/eSata drive with over a terabyte for the same price Microshaft is charging for the 120 GB version. They are just shooting themselves in the foot though as it keeps me from buying more downloadable content.
