Microsoft's Kinect rebranding reveals its strategy for the compatibility of different types of games with the peripheral...
We've been doing a bit of fishing around on a Microsoft assets site this afternoon and have come across some interesting branding for upcoming Kinect games. It seems Microsoft feels that while some games will merely be "Better With Kinect", others are going to "Require" it.
First-party titles such as Kinectimals, Kinect Adventures, and Kinect Sports will now fit under the "Requires Kinect Sensor" banner, while other games that have been confirmed as Kinect compatible but will offer traditional gamepad controls as well (e.g. Fable III) will presumably fit under the "Better With Kinect" banner.
An in-store countdown timer was another juicy morsel that we came across on our journeys. Presumably this will be placed alongside Kinect pods in shops to feverishly up the anticipation levels for Microsoft's new peripheral as it nears release this November.
We've had to resize the image to fit this article, which explains why the "Reserve Your Kinect Sensor Today" tag on the top-right has been distorted a bit. Of course, we would reserve our Kinect Sensor if only Microsoft could confirm how much it will cost...
