Microsoft/BT's IPTV Service Moving Slowly News

Despite being announced a year ago during Bill Gates' keynote speech at CES, Microsoft and BT Vision's IPTV service for Xbox 360 appears to still remain stuck at the planning stage.

TVG contacted BT's press office for an update on the project, which will bring BT Vision's service of broadband TV and on-demand movies to the Xbox 360, and received the following official comment from a Spokesperson:

"We are looking at a number of ways of increasing the distribution of Vision including consoles."

The wording of the comment gives very little away, although it does seem to be incredibly vague for an on-demand service that was promised a year ago. You could read into it to the affect that the original agreement with Microsoft has fallen through or, on the other hand, that the two companies are still working on the best way of implementing the service.

Either way, it certainly doesn't sound like the IPTV service (which was originally promised to all BT Vision customers) will be rolled out any time soon and it appears to be stuck at the early stages of development.
