As the rumours continue, Microsoft has once again batted down suggestions that Blu-ray is on its way to the Xbox 360...
More rumours have surfaced this week that Microsoft is developing an external Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360, with the latest hearsay suggesting that the Redmond giant has contracted Toshiba-Samsung Technology Corp. to produce a Blu-ray disc drive for the console retailing at between $100 and $150 (£58-£87).
Not so, according to Microsoft, which told Edge-Online, "As we've said before, Microsoft has no plans to introduce an Xbox 360 Blu-ray add-on. Games are what drive consumers to purchase game consoles, and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available."
The demise of HD-DVD earlier this year led to Microsoft dropping its external HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360 and, although the firm does offer HD movies for download in Europe via the Xbox Live Video Store, it seems inevitable that the company will have to release a Blu-ray drive at some point to keep up with the expanding HD hardware market.

lol if this dumb a.ss move by microsoft actually happens (live annual subscription up to £80 a year) then considder the 360 100% dead, they should lower the cost not up it like they did with the arcade in september (was £130 now £160) and its all to do with the euro exchange only the in the UK we use pounds not sh.it.ty euros.
