Microsoft's man at the top confirms that he is to leave the role of Chief Software Architect to focus on philanthropy...
Following the appointment of Steve Ballmer in 2000 as Microsoft's Chief Executive Officer, increased speculation has surrounded the future of Bill Gates at Microsoft. The world's richest man, Gates is also a philanthropist along with his wife, and together their foundation has donated billions of dollars towards global healthcare and education, and today he's announced that is where he intends to focus his time.
Set to step down from the role of Chief Software Architect in 2008, Gates will retain the title of Microsoft Chairman, but will leave the day-to-day running of his vast empire to Messrs. Ballmer and Lotus Notes creator Ray Ozzie, who takes on the CSA role.
Gates' move is highly unlikely to have any effect on Vista and Xbox 360 in the future so don't panic, but it still remains an important event in Microsoft's history.

lol if this dumb a.ss move by microsoft actually happens (live annual subscription up to £80 a year) then considder the 360 100% dead, they should lower the cost not up it like they did with the arcade in september (was £130 now £160) and its all to do with the euro exchange only the in the UK we use pounds not sh.it.ty euros.
