Elites Now Suffering From Red Ring??? News

A report from one UK tabloid newspaper has today suggested that Microsoft is facing a new wave of Red Ring of Death problems, this time focused on the Xbox 360 Elite.

The Mirror's article suggests that some gamers have recently begun returning their matt black editions of the console, which utilises the Zephyr motherboard and an improved heat sink. Two new motherboard designs are apparently in the works, both of which should further limit the number of Red Ring issues in the future, whilst a third (rumoured to be codenamed 'Opus') is allegedly being used to replace the aging Falcon chipsets that have succumbed to the Red Ring over the past two years.

Microsoft has already set aside $1 billion over three years to cover the Red Ring of Death issue, which occurs as a result of undefined hardware failures, often relating to overheating. The corporation has previously suffered from overheating hardware in the past, with a recall of the Xbox 360 Steering Wheel in 2007 and reports of some electrical fires caused by some Xbox 1 power cables in 2003.

A statement on behalf of Microsoft has already been issued, which defends the console: "The majority of Xbox 360 owners enjoy a great experience with their console. Anyone with a problem should call Xbox customer service."
