SEGA remain confident in Worms despite lack of appeal last year…
Despite the criminal fact that Worms3d failed to shift the units that it deserved to, SEGA Europe today displayed its confidence in the venerable franchise with the announcement of Worms: forts Under Siege for the Playstation2, Xbox and PC.
Currently in development at Team17, Worms Forts Under Siege appears to be in the same vein as the excellent Worms3D, however this time around thereâ??s more of a tactical edge to the proceedings.
Players are tasked with taking control of their worm garrison, and battle through time from Ancient Egypt to the epic struggle for Troy, facing the might of the Samurai or aiding King Arthur in his knightly quest.
The game features 30 different weapons to get your hands on, or whatever Worms use to hold on to them, including catapults and the feared Trojan Donkey!
Matthew Woodley, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe Ltd, commented, "We've really enjoyed the experience of working with Team 17, and the simple yet thoroughly addictive gameplay of Worms Forts Under Siege makes it a great way to spend your time, either on your own but especially with friends. Team 17 has managed to improve on a winning formula once again."
Debbie Bestwick, Commercial Director, Team 17 Software Ltd, added, "Building on the strengths that have made the Worms games such a success, this latest instalment sees the series taken to a new level of gameplay. With massive weaponry and fortifications, there's a whole new strategic element that really adds to the engaging gameplay and addictiveness of the Worms experience."
Worms Forts Under Siege is scheduled for a European release in Q4 2004; weâ??ll have more information soon.
