Worms: A Space Oddity scheduled to arrive on the Nintendo platform early next year...

THQ has today confirmed development of Worms: A Space Oddity for Wii, marking the first time that Team 17's long-running franchise will appear on Nintendo's console.

Utilising the Wii-remote and nunchuk's accelerometers for gesture-based control, A Space Oddity takes place across six planets and will feature online multiplayer gameplay for up to four players via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The publisher also confirms that the instalment will feature a departure from the usual visual style of Worms, "inspired by classic Sci-Fi looks."

Whilst Wii gamers will have to wait a few months before they get to play A Space Oddity, DS and PSP owners only have to wait another day - Worms: Open Warfare 2 is due for release from tomorrow.
