Four weeks since the Chinese launch of World of Warcraft, subscriptions break through the 1.5 million mark...
Blizzard Entertainment has today announced that a month after their MMORPG World of Warcraft launched in China, subscriptions in the Far Eastern country has broken through the 1.5 million mark, bringing the global figure to 3.5 million. WoW is operated in China by MMO operator The9 and are responsible for providing localisation of content, player feedback, and content updates.
â??World of Warcraftâ??s success in China has quickly exceeded our expectations, and seeing Chinese gamers respond so enthusiastically to the game has been extremely gratifying,â? said Mike Morhaime, President and Co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. â??We thank the players for embracing World of Warcraft, our partner The9 for helping to make all of this possible, and the Chinese authorities for their support of Blizzard Entertainment.â?
Chinese gamers across the country have embraced World of Warcraft,â? said Michael Fong, Blizzard Entertainment Managing Director, Greater China, â??and we are committed to responding with continual updates to the game, including new dungeons for players to explore, additional player-vs.-player content, ongoing live events, and much more. Blizzard and The9 also remain dedicated to delivering unparalleled service to Chinese gamers with fully localized content and local, around-the-clock customer support.â?
Blizzard is hoping to launch in Taiwan and other parts of Asia in the coming months.

Anyone using the word "Scrubs" is a total tool. It does not make you sound tough or cool.
