Blizzard President Talks WoW News

After experiencing massive problems with crashing servers, Blizzard President Mike Morhaime has posted a message on to the World of Warcraft forums to explain the current situation in a bid to calm the increasing frustration of WoW gamers.

In the message, Morhaime commented that due to problems with the boat that runs between Menethil Harbor and Auberdine (it was disappearing from time to time, leaving players in the ocean) and the fact that the servers crashed when gamers tried to log back on, 20 realms were taken offline so maintenance could be provided.

Even though the event occurred during peak time hours in the US (the servers were taken offline at 6pm Pacific Standard Time), it was several hours before the problem was solved and the realms were placed back online.

As compensation, Morhaime confirmed that gamers affected by the action will be credited 4 free days, on top of the 3 days given last week when similar problems occurred.

Finishing off the message, Morhaime said that unless it was absolutely necessary, the WoW servers will not be taken offline during peak time ours again and that, â??I want to extend my personal and heartfelt apology for the problems that some of you have been experiencing on our servers. We remain committed to delivering the best possible service for you and will continue to work around the clock to ensure that we provide an experience that you and I have to come to expect from Blizzard games.â?
