'Official ad' appears to suggest a mid-November launch for the second World of Warcraft expansion...
Confirmed for a launch sometime in the fourth quarter, there's speculation today that the second expansion pack to World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King, has received a launch date of November 13th.
Splash pages on WoW community sites WoWhead and Thotbot have emerged advertising the Lich King's defrosting, with forum posts on the official WoW website and others beginning to get into a frenzy. During a recent interview with TVG, Lich King Lead Game Designer, Tom Chilton revealed the game would be released "The first Tuesday it's ready!" The thing is, November 13th is a Thursday...
Online stores remain at odds with other as to when the glaciers of Northrend will open to players, with Amazon and Play both using a November 4th date, and GAME using a broader October release.
Officially, Blizzard are yet to release a statement confirming the what is expected to be a worldwide release date for the expansion.
[UPDATE]
Activision Blizzard has now confirmed that the release date of Wrath of the Lich King will be on November 13th for North America, Europe, Russia, and a small number of South American countries, before arriving the day after in Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia, with Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on November 18th.
"We're looking forward to launching Wrath of the Lich King and finally giving World of Warcraft players a chance to take on Arthas and his minions," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "Until then, we'll continue to refine and playtest the expansion content to make sure it provides a highly polished and entertaining experience."

Corr, somebody really pissed that guy off. Still, he's kind of right: Warcraft does not neccesarily mean WOW. Still, I reckon the movie (if it does make it to the big screen, which is a big if) is likely to focus on the culture surrounding the MMO game rather than the previous RTS titles, even though the strategy games originally built up Warcraft's story canon.
