Wii Fit notches up four weeks at No.1; CoD drops below No.2 for the first time...

Nintendo's balance board phenomenon, Wii Fit, is on top of the UK all formats chart once again this week, with the game now having retained the No.1 spot for a whole month uninterrupted (nine weeks in total) according to Chart Track figures.

Hopefully the game's success is having a knock-on effect with the UK's growing obesity problem and, if it is, then we salute the robustness of Nintendo's balance board.

In other chart news, Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty: World at War has dropped below No.2 for the first time. Having been struck by an unlucky 13th week on the charts, the game is now at No.3 after enjoying six weeks at No.1 and another six at the No.2 spot.

CoD's departure leaves space for the best selling game of 2008 in the UK, FIFA 09, which popped in at No.2 from No.3 last week. It's a very high new entry into the charts for Nintendo's latest murder mystery romp on DS, Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir, at No.4. The title supersedes Professor Layton and the Curious Village, which drops one place to No.5.

Mario Kart Wii and Wii Play retain their chart positions from last week, coming in at No.6 and No.7 respectively. EA's Skate 2 drops three places to No.8, while Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (No.9) and Guitar Hero: World Tour (No.10) make a return to the top 10 having both moved up three places from last week.

Our usual round-up of Chart Track's individual formats chart (which tabulates individual format sales rather than cross format sales for titles) displays the dominance of Nintendo's Wii this month, which was responsible for 14 titles in the top 40 compared to 10 on the Xbox 360, its nearest rival.

When this week's chart is compared to figures since the beginning of the year, the continuing battle between the Wii and Xbox 360 is clear to see, while the rise and rise of Nintendo's DS has continued this week with the handheld boasting nine titles on the individual formats chart this week.

The Wii is great. The Wii Fit helps keep me active. Even though it is not as good as playing an actual sport, its a good alternative.
