Coming Soon scoops the dirt on Midway's next-gen title starring Vin Diesel...
With a variety of next-generation titles in development at Midway, Coming Soon has today lifted the lid on one of them in the shape of The Wheelman. Alleging that Paramount and MTV Films have acquired the rights to a movie adaptation from Midway, the article suggests that a considerable $15 billion budget backs the Xbox 360 and Playstation3 title.
The article further claims that videogame's most prominent actor, Vin Diesel, will assume the titular main role, as an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past; with the videogame acting as a prequel to the events of the movie.
The agreement marks the latest in a developing relationship between Midway and Paramount/MTV Films (all of which are majority owned by Sumner Redstone), with movie adaptations of The Suffering, Area 51 and the shelved Fear and Respect currently in the pipeline.
Both the game and the movie are aiming for a late 2007 release, so we expect it will be a little while before further information comes to light...
