Midway: Wheelman Is Driver 'Done Properly' News

Scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC next February, Midway's Wheelman is the latest video game to feature Hollywood hard man, Vin Diesel, following 2005's Escape from Butcher Bay.

In an interview with TVG, Midway Studio Newcastle boss, Craig Duncan, has revealed that the game is “Driver done properly”, a nod towards the former Atari franchise, which experienced dwindled success after the notoriety of 'Driv3r'.  Describing Wheelman, which sees Diesel infiltrate the Barcelona underworld, Duncan commented that, “We wanted to have the driving experience as good as driving games, and our action as good as action games, so that you get in your car and it’s awesome.  It’s not just getting in one to get from A to B, it’s about having fun, smash people up, do big jumps – all that cool Hollywood stuff.”

Ubisoft Reflections, formed after the French publisher acquired the Driver developer, is currently working on a new instalment in the franchise, which exploded onto the original PlayStation in 1998.
