Relic's Warhammer 40k RTS sequel heads to manufacturing; war between the Orks and the Space Marines due next month...

THQ today confirmed that Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II has now gone gold, ahead of its PC release in February.  The game, developed by Relic Entertainment, is the latest instalment in the Dawn of War franchise, and continues the galactic struggle between humanity's Space Marines and the green-skinned Orks.

Developed with Relic's proprietary Essence Engine 2.0, Dawn of War II features an intricate campaign and extensive multiplayer modes, and aims to create a strong link between players and the game's squad members – rather than rely on disposable grunts.

“Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II will build on the critical acclaim and commercial success of the Dawn of War franchise, letting players experience RTS gaming like never before,” said Kevin Kraff, vice president of global brand management, THQ. “Combining non-linear gameplay, cooperative multiplayer, cinematic visuals, and destructible battlefields brings a new, innovative dynamic to the genre.”

“Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II stays true to the fast-paced, brutal heart of the Dawn of War series, while introducing branching single-player storylines and unique unit customization,” said Tarrnie Williams, general manager, Relic Entertainment. “The deep, tactical gameplay lets players develop and lead personalized elite units who gain experience and grow stronger with every ferocious battle.”

No you cant build buildings. Only cover and powergenerators directly at the powersourcesector. basebuilding is just annoying anyway.

WoW, and I don't mean World of Warcrap; j/k I see why people like WoW, and more power to them. The more games we have that are a blast to play the better. DoW 2 is by far my most anticipated game for 2008 & 2009 combinned.

Relic aren't innovating either: - squads - old - morale system - old (Cossacs 2 or something) - resource system - old (Z) - small scale, macro-less gameplay - old (Ground Control 2, and many others, including RTT titles) I could go on and on...
