You get your partner to tag you back in with the a button while he's near you. I found out all of this by going into the move set for my created character. Just hit create modes, create moveset, created superstars, and pi tvg rules! . This shows pretty much everything. Or, if you aren't using a created superstar, pick who you do use. But it should be pretty much the same across the board.
