Activision/Vivendi Quit ESA News

The soon-to-be-merged publishers pull out of the US equivalent of ELSPA...

It's been confirmed today that Activision and Vivendi have pulled out of their membership to the Entertainment Software Association, the US equivalent of ELSPA.

Activision and Vivendi are yet to make a comment on the move, although the ESA has responded.

In a statement to US gaming blog, Joystiq, Richard Taylor, the ESA's Senior Vice President of Communications & Research commented: "While the Entertainment Software Association remains the preeminent voice for U.S. computer and video game publishers, we can confirm that Activision and Vivendi Games opted to discontinue their membership. The ESA remains dedicated to advancing our industry's objectives such as protecting intellectual property, preserving First Amendment rights, and fostering a beneficial environment for the entire industry. Our high level of service and value to members and the larger industry remains unchanged."

The decision by the future Activision Blizzard comes just hours after it was revealed that neither Activision nor Vivendi would be making an appearance at E3 2008.
