Microsoft carpet registers a new trademark at the US Patent & Trademark Office...

Bashing a suspended sweet-filled object with a stick whilst blind-folded might never take the place of Pass the Parcel at kids birthday parties here in the UK, but during celebrations in Mexico, hitting a Piñata has been popular for centuries - but now it seems like Microsoft wants its turn to take the candy.

Registered at the US Patent & Trademark Office since December 2005 by Microsoft, Viva Piñata is the rumoured Xbox 360 title currently being developed by Microsoft Game Studio, Rare - according to US publication Game Informer - although this of course hasn't been confirmed by either Rare or Microsoft.
