Rare To Put Pinata On Hiatus News

One week before the release of the two Viva Pinata titles, Rare's reveals the team will be 'taking a break from VP for a while'...

Next Friday sees the double release of Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise on Xbox 360 and Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise on Nintendo DS, but it looks like Rare will be taking a lengthy break from the franchise.

In an roundtable interview with several Rare and Viva Pinata community sites, including MundoRare, lead designer Justin Cook confirmed that "...as the team is concerned we are taking a break from VP for a while to make something new." No details are available about what the 'something new' could be, whether that's an original IP or a new instalment in an established brand...like the often rumoured Killer Instinct 3 for instance.

Cook also confirmed that Rare won't be supporting Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise with downloadable content either.

Both handheld and home console editions Viva Pinata are launched from September 5th.
