Sega set to release an obscure selection of Dreamcast titles for the Xbox.

During a recent Japanese press event, Sega chose to announce four ‘new’ Xbox titles set to be released in Japan under a new ‘Cool Cool’ brand. Before you get excited, the games are conversions of Dreamcast titles, and not particularly good ones at that.

First up is a conversion of the obscure Dreamcast RPG title, Rent-A-Hero No.1, Sega fans will remember the franchise started out on the MegaDrive and was updated to the Dreamcast last year, unfortunately the game was never released in the West, so this could hopefully provide our first glimpse of the title.

The second title announced was a conversion of the so-so survival/horror Dreamcast title Illbleed. Sega opted not to publish the Dreamcast version in the West, where Jaleco picked up the US rights, so a Western release is not looking likely.

A conversion of the awful Dreamcast beat-em-up Dynamite Cop 2 is also on the cards; this was one of the first titles released on the Dreamcast and a sequel to the so-so Die Hard Arcade that was released in the arcades and Saturn.

Finally a conversion of the action/adventure title Blue Stinger is on the way, the Xbox conversion will feature a new character along with a new scenario.

As you can see the games aren’t exactly the pick of the pack in terms of Dreamcast releases, and is unlikely to enhance the Xbox reputation in Japan, whilst Western releases are extremely unlikely.
