The Spanish videogame distributor Virgin Play sets its sights on the UK...
Ever since Virgin Interactive was bought by Titus Software in 1999 and re-branded as Avalon Interactive in 2003, Sir Richard Branson's sole finger in the videogame pie has rested with Virgin Play - a distributor and marketer acting solely in Spain.
Speaking to UK trade publication MCV however, Virgin Play boss Tim Chaney confirmed the company's ambitions to begin publishing outside of the Iberian peninsula in 2007 - where it can.
The announcement comes following a successful year for the company; in the interview with MCV Chaney said, "We have been surprised by the very positive feedback to our release schedule in a difficult industry year...Combined with a sizeable improvement in our local market share as an independent distributor, 2006 is on course to be a record year for us."
So it looks like one of the publishing names of the 90s is set to return in 2007 - we'll have more news shortly...
