EA's Visceral Games studio is currently working on a new Command & Conquer title that's "pretty far out"...

The General Manager of EA's Visceral Games studio, Nick Earl has revealed that the developer is currently working on a new Command & Conquer game.

Speaking to Gamasutra, Earl confirmed the game's existence and referred to its concept as "pretty far out". However, no further details were spilled beyond that.

What Earl did speak about at length was Visceral Games' intention to focus on action games and, more specifically, third-person action games following its success with Dead Space.

Whether this means Command & Conquer will move beyond the confines of RTS gaming remains unclear, although it wouldn't be the first time for the series (C&C Renegade in 2002 and the cancelled 'Tiberium' project from a couple of years back).

The most recent instalment in the series, C&C4: Tiberian Twilight failed to receive either critical or commercial success despite its retake on the traditional C&C gameplay formula.

Update: EA has confirmed the existence of this new Command & Conquer title to Game Informer. However, the publisher clarified that it's not being developed by Visceral Games. Instead, the title is being handled by a separate Los Angeles-based EA studio that reports directly to Nick Earl at Visceral Games. This effectively blows that C&C action game theory out of the water for now. More as we get it...

Tibeian twilight was the worst POS ever, it followed the warhammer series with a single building doing EVERYTHING it ruined BOTH games and they will always drop followers if they change the formula so drastically.

The game slowed to an absolute crawl because of time taken to replenish units instead of being able to build several unit production buildings to keep the game at speed.......the rediculous populations caps also brought the game to farcical proportions where entires battles were being fought between just a few units....

Sad relly this C&C games were always leaders in the genre and were up until twilight the best there was!
