From the creators of Everquest comes a new MMORPG for the PC…

Microsoft Game Studios and Sigil Games Online today announced the development of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, a next-generation massively multiplayer online role-playing game for the PC.

The game is being headed by Brad McQuaid who previously co-created â??Everquestâ??; McQuaid claimed "Sigil's unparalleled expertise and experience in the field will bring groundbreaking advances to the genreâ?.

The Vanguard team includes McQuaid and Steve Clover, both of whom co-authored the original design document and led the design team for EverQuest. McQuaid then served as the producer on EverQuest, with Clover driving development as lead programmer. Working with McQuaid as Vanguard's co-producer is Jeff Butler, who also co-produced the EverQuest expansion The Ruins of Kunark and later served as producer on the highly successful expansions The Scars of Velious and The Shadows of Luclin. Rounding out the Vanguard leadership team is art director Keith Parkinson, the award-winning artist responsible for the painted box art for the original EverQuest and several later expansions.

Weâ??ll have a closer look soon; but until then MMORPG fans may want to check out www.vanguardsoh.com/ for more information.

Agreed. SOE is either where games get broken or go to die. I thought this game had promise, then found out it was releasing early, with bugs, and right up against WoW's expansion. That SHOULD have screamed to me "Company Cashing Out ASAP", but I was dumb and bought it anyway (and the guide too!! Grrr). Played for a few days, wish I could say I enjoyed it, but I was bored to tears very early.

What is it with MMO fans and acronyms??? Besides what you worried about, I'm sure SOE will bring Microsoft and Sigil's vision to fruition - cough, cough... Why do you play SOE games anyway?
