No Xbox Lite On The Cards News

Just weeks after Sony unveiled the new look PlayStation2, the head honcho at Xbox UK, Neil Thompson, has confirmed that despite the rumour mill churning at maximum capacity, Microsoft wonâ??t be following suit with the Xbox Lite.

Whilst a smaller version of the console would be possible and been speculated upon for many months, Thompson claimed to MCVUK that, â??Iâ??m not sure itâ??s something weâ??re going to look to achieve.â?

The re-release of the Crystal Xbox has also been reported to have been a knee-jerk response to the PSTwo, but Mr Thompson replied that, â??[The re-release is] definitely not a reaction to them - itâ??s a different type of design that weâ??re giving, versus PS2â?¦ We took a decision to come back with it because consumers were clamouring for it.â?

But with the release of the Xbox2 not expected until the end of 2005 at the earliest, Microsoft do have plenty time to reconsider.
