SEGA and Petroglyph team up for the forthcoming PC RTS that portrays doom on Earth in the near-future...

Sixteen months after first announcing the agreement between themselves and Petroglyph, SEGA today lifted the lid on its forthcoming PC RTS, Universe At War: Earth Assault.

Scheduled for release during the Autumn, the second title from the RTS specialists after Star Wars: Empire At War (and its expansion) focuses on an epic battle to prevent total alien domination of the planet earth.

Coming from a team whose past credits include the original Command & Conquer, you'd expect Universe At Ware to have its fair share of genre busting innovations. Most notable is the 'Tactical Dynamics' system, which allows players to retrain and customise units in real-time on the battlefield in order to overwhelm enemy forces and exploit tactical situations.

Bearing the scars of deadly sci-fi weapons and alien powers, deformable terrains and destructible settlements play a large part in the game, which players can return to and witness smouldering away in the persistent world.

Promising a significant online multiplayer component, Universe At War allows players to earn achievements, rewards and medals in a persistent online campaign to win ultimate faction domination across a virtual Earth.

I also agree that this is the best game of 2008. Game developers must take a few tips when playing this.
