Key titles for Sony's NGP will be new games rather than ports, original developers taking a back seat...
It has been revealed that Uncharted and Resistance games for Sony’s NGP will be new releases and not ports of eariler PS3 titles. However, neither title is set to be developed by the original franchise creator.
Resistance creators Insomniac Games tweeted their congratulations to Nihilistic Software for taking on development of the NGP title, and also confirmed that it will be a “brand new Resistance game. Not a port”. Nihilistic is responsible for Playstation Move Heroes and previously released Zombie Apocalypse on XBLA and PSN.
Uncharted will be developed by Sony’s Bend Studio, who made the PSP Syphon Filter and Resistance: Retribution games. Naughty Dog is said to be overseeing the project to ensure the gameplay and plot remain of a high quality, according to an article in Game Informer.
Naughty Dog and Insomniac both have PS3 sequels to their flagship franchises due for release later this year, so it’s perhaps unsurprising that development duties for these NGP titles have fallen to other studios.
