Activision confirms the title Tony Hawk: Shred as its next instalment in the skateboard peripheral enhanced series...
Earlier in the week, The Birdman himself, Tony Hawk claimed in a tweet that Tony Hawk: Shred is the title for Activision's sequel to last year's Tony Hawk: Ride. The tweet was then pulled and presumably The Birdman got a spanking from Activision PR, but at least they've now had the good humour to confirm the leak.
"We can confirm we've given a name to the next Tony Hawk game - Tony Hawk: Shred, and more details will be revealed in the coming months," an Activision spokesperson told Joystiq. In other words, expect some details to surface on the game from this year's E3.
Tony Hawk: Ride was a bit of a non-starter for Activision last year, with poor reviews and slow sales scuppering Activision's plans to reinvigorate the Tony Hawk series of games with a skateboard peripheral. When we went feet on with the peripheral here at the TVG office last year, we certainly felt that it had some potential and hope that Activision can build on this with Shred.

this is not cool or fair. why don't they just make a tony hawk game that is cool like shred but for psp,ps2,ds and all the other systems like they did with project 8,thug,thug2,proving ground and american wastland. it makes me really depressed. that just makes me want to go to my room and just cry.
