Crystal Dynamics is apparently hard at work on a new adventure in the Tomb Raider series...
Square Enix Europe's Tomb Raider studio, Crystal Dynamics is apparently hard at work on a new instalment in the Tomb Raider series that's set to land around Christmas 2011.
The project is separate to the previously announced Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light title (also underway at Crystal Dynamics) and is the same game that emerged from leaked concept art and details this time last year.
This is according to a Eurogamer report, which cites an undisclosed source who revealed that the game is being developed for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC but wouldn't confirm the previously rumoured 'Downfall' subtitle for the game.
Earlier this week a former Crystal Dynamics employee, Joel Boucquemont revealed alleged concept art from the project on his website (under the 'Concept Art' and 'Tomb Raider' sub-sections), which is apparently genuine according to this new report. Boucquemont also refers to the speculated 'Downfall' subtitle as a cancelled "Third person urban action game" in his résumé, which appears to dispel the previous rumours mentioned above.
The art certainly has a similar tack to info from the original leaks last year, which suggests that Lara Croft will indeed be veering towards survival horror gameplay in this next Tomb Raider instalment. More as we get it...

It's early days. I'm going to at least wait until some gameplay footage is released before I lay down any kind of judgement on the title. Still, I don't know where you're getting the "urban" theme from. It looks like precisely the opposite judging by what's been leaked so far.

Oh boy, this new TR sounds like history repeating itself. More urban running around and no mention if it's connected to the others.....flop like a jelly much?
