Ubisoft confirms that the forthcoming PSP title is merely based on Splinter Cell 4...

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Essentials

With the next instalment of the Splinter Cell series heading for its traditional Easter time release, Ubisoft has sent clarification on a point raised by TVG. Recent Ubi release schedules included a PSP title called Splinter Cell Essentials, however in the latest listings the PSP version was referred to as 'Splinter Cell 4'.

With a need for clarification we contacted Ubisoft about the change, and in a statement a Ubi representative confirmed it was a mistake on the schedule: Splinter Cell on PSP will indeed be Splinter Cell Essentials. So what can we essentially expect from the game when it's released in the first quarter of 2006? In the statement, Ubi confirms that, "It [Splinter Cell Essentials] is based on Splinter Cell 4 but with some different missions." Whether these different missions will include reworked missions from Sam's past, we'll have to wait and see.

We'll have further coverage of Splinter Cell Essentials and Splinter Cell Double Agent shortly...
