CryTek CEO informs Develop that the team formerly known as Free Radical are working on dream projects...

It's all gone a little quiet on the CryTek UK (formerly Free Radical design) front following the German developer's acquisition earlier in the year.  However it seems the team is hard at work on projects they've "always dreamed to do", according to comments made to Develop by CryTek CEO Cevat Yerli.

When asked whether the acquisition was a positive move for the UK's development industry, a defiant Yerli responded:

"If someone has that concern, they should ask the people that are actually there. We have provided the team at Crytek UK a structure and a future that clearly shows improvement."

"We are working with Free Radical on things that they always dreamed to do" Yerli said. "We are providing the team a roadmap and the chance to grow, which is why we were picked as a partner, and not anyone else."

Whether these dream projects include the previously sighted TimeSplitters 4 remains to be seen.

Crysis 2 has now been released so therefore Talk of Timsplitters 4 at Crytek UK must be on the agender. I expect we'll know in a month or 2 what's happening. However, my worry is, Free radical design were renowned for the Timsplitters comedic almost cartoony concept of their games. Crytek is much more into the 'unkown serioussnes' of games and following a set story. Looking at the Crysis series for example. I'm anticipating a Timesplitters game with incredible graphics, but I doubt it'll follow suit to the previous timesplitters games and will almost feel like a totally new game and not another sequel. =/

I hope that Timesplitters 4 is still in development somewhere at Crytek UK, but I fear that the studio is now dominated by Crysis related projects. After all, Timesplitters hardly fits with the Crytek brand.

(although it would seem wasteful to bin such a promising project from a much loved series) This is very true....its now 2010...and still nothing...im hoping the next e3 crytek will shock everyone with ts4...also i heard they re-registered the 2005 game timeplitters future perfect and wanted to recreate with hd graphics...soooooooo not sure what the hell is going on with ts4 which im sure was almost finished....future perfect and ts2 are both the greatest fps shooter ever created and i will never forget the good and funny times

The Crytek/FRD acquisition surely has to be a good move, with Crytek finally entering the console space.

well thanks to the contract they signed with sony to make it a ps3 exclusive has cost em big time, maybe a few more developers should take notice the xbox has more users than the ps3 and the 360 is/has more shooters on it than any other console out at the minuit so time splitters could have come out on 360 with guranteed sales topping the same as cod/gears of war ect.
