EA announces the release of Christmas themed content for The Sims 2 – batteries not included...

The Sims will never die it seems as today EA confirmed the development of a new release entitled The Sims 2: Holiday Edition, scheduled for release just in time for Christmas.

Available for a limited time only The Sims 2: Holiday Edition features the original game plus 40 new Christmas-themed items to allow your Sims to celebrate in style (not to mention making EA an extra few simoleans at the same time).

With the bonus content Sims fans can decorate their houses, serve a festive dinner, organise a visit from Santa, host a New Yearâ??s party and have a rousing argument around the dinner table.

"The appeal of playing The Sims 2 is that the game is what you make it," explained Senior Producer Tim LeTourneau. The gameplay experience follows the day-to-day life of the Sims characters that you create and control, over an entire lifetime. According to LeTourneau, "Players enjoy participating in all the ups and downs of their Sims' lives, from the big things like falling in love or building and decorating their house to the memorable things like putting up their family's first Christmas tree and hosting a holiday dinner -- even mundane details like ordering a pizza or fixing the toilet are humorous and fun. The Sims 2 is designed to make even the ordinary extraordinarily entertaining!"

Thankfully Sim addicts donâ??t have to purchase the game all over again for the new content as those who already own The Sims 2 will be able to pick up The Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack.
