Reports surface suggesting the cancellation of Lionhead's innovative movie-mogul sim for the consoles, amidst talk of a PC expansion pack...
Movie loving consoles owners were dealt a hard blow during Activision's recent financial report, with alleged confirmation that the console versions of Lionhead's The Movies have been scrapped.
The reason behind the decision appears to be based around the significantly lower then expected sales of the PC adaptation, which isn't too much of a surprise given Lionheads assurances to TVG last year that the console versions were coming along "really well". If the news is indeed true then it's a sad time for videogames given the game's burst of creativity in a relatively stilted gaming year - instead it seems Activision will focus largely of the sure-fire bets, so another round of Tony Hawks, X-Men and Spider-Man appears to be on the cards.
Some solace comes from the fact that the resources could now be poured into an expansion pack for the PC version, although this appears to be little more then rampant speculation at this stage.
TVG will hopefully have more on The Movies future soon, but in the meantime if you've yet to sample its finer delights make sure to check out the official demo and pick up a copy immediately.
