LOTR: The White Council - "On Hold" News
EA confirms the status of the proposed open-world Lord of the Rings RPG...

In what can be described as a bountiful webcast, Electronic Arts has clarified the development status of Lord of the Rings: The White Council.
The future of the game, which had been proposed as an open-world RPG for Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and PC, has been murky ever since reports emerged from the US stating that it had been cancelled.
At the time, EA refused to comment on the speculation, but in the financial webcast, CEO and Chairman Larry Probst confirmed that whilst the title remained in production, it was currently on hold.
Further details on when we can expect The White Council to march against the forces of Sauron were held back, but is has been ruled out as a 2007 release.
