EA Confirms Battle For Middle-Earth On Xbox 360 News

The Lord of the Rings RTS set for a Summer 2006 release on Xbox 360...

The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II

Electronic Arts has today confirmed that The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II is to be released on Xbox 360 during Summer 2006. The RTS title, which is already set for a Spring release on PC, follows the war of the ring and takes in further details from Tolkien's literary works as well as the movies created by Peter Jackson.

As well as giving gamers the chance progress through the single-player campaign, EA confirms that the Battle for Middle-Earth II will be playable across Xbox Live, a first for the publisher's range of Lord of the Rings titles.

"Living these cinematic battles in high-definition with stunning surround sound, all from the comfort of your living room couch on the Xbox 360, is an extraordinary experience," said Louis Castle, VP of Creative Development at EALA. "Adding the ability to battle it out with friends via Xbox LIVE is also really exciting."

One of the problems of bringing RTS titles to the consoles in the past has been the control system via a gamepad rather than a mouse, though EA has commented that the Xbox 360 version will feature, "... a new and intuitive console-specific control scheme that will allow novice players to enjoy the game's signature strategy gameplay while giving expert players the flexibility needed to engage in a deeply complex strategy experience."

I just finished the good campaign, and I was let down. It was cool to be the elves and the dwarves, but the movie was all about the men. It would have been cool to continue the campaign, but as men now.I think that there should heve been more to the campaign then there was. Also it was very short compared to the campaign in the first lord of the rings, the battle for middle earth. (and where was legolas? Is he not an elf? Shouldnt he have been there to help his people?)
