Codemasters signs a deal to bring The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar to Europe...
UK publisher Codemasters has today announced that it's to bring the MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar to Europe. The game, which is currently being developed by Turbine, has been pencilled in for a late 2006 release and will see players walk through many of the lands written about by JRR Tolkien as one of the Free Peoples of Middle-Earth (Human, Dwarves, Elves, or Hobbits) against the dark hordes of orcs, nazgul, trolls, and spiders.
Jeffrey Anderson, president and CEO of Turbine, Inc., commented, "Through the last year we have established a close working relationship with Codemasters and have been impressed with its commitment and expertise in the online gaming space. We are delighted to partner further with the company to deliver The Lord of the Rings Online experience throughout Europe."
Rod Cousens, CEO of Codemasters said, "The Lord of the Rings is one the most-suited literary pieces of fantasy to translate into a rich and rewarding MMORPG experience and it is immensely pleasing to be extending our relationship with Turbine, Inc to bring its superbly crafted work to Europe."
Turbine confirmed in the last two weeks that North American publishing of The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar will be handled by Midway.
