[UPDATE] Finally Nintendo confirms one of their worst kept secrets; expect a new twist on the latest Zelda (or maybe not?)...
The saga surrounding Twilight Princess has always been very clear; what better title could be used to kick-start the Revolution and highlight its backwards compatibility, whilst also satisfying a patient and loyal GameCube user base - it's a win-win situation for Nintendo to have Link's latest adventure out on or around the Revolution's launch.
Rumours of the cross-compatibility between Twilight Princess and the GameCube/Revolution were first suggested back in November; strangely enough when the game was originally due to ship as a standard GameCube title (if a new Zelda can ever be classes as standard).
Despite the apparent logic behind the move, Nintendo has strenuously denied such allegations in the past, although closer inspection reveals the Japanese giant only refuting claims that Twilight Princess would become a fully-blown Revolution title.
Today however it appears that Nintendo have eased up a little, with scans from the latest issue of EGM revealing such tantalising suggestions as, "The trick will be what makes it special to play on Revolution..." and "Certainly one of the things that I would love to see is something that makes Zelda, when it's played on Revolution, do something magical."
Naturally the bounds are no longer restricted with the Revolution's controller; we've already suggested the fishing mini-game possibilities, however it's the theories of the trademark musical instruments that sound the most intriguing. The return of the baton from Wind Waker seems ideal if a little unlikely given the importance of new and original ideas. Last year's E3 demo provided an early opportunity to play songs in a similar manner to the Ocarina with a water reed, which were used to attract the attention of a hawk; exactly how this would translate is more unclear, though we wouldn't be surprised to see the "instrument" changed to something a little more practical for the Revolution.
Of course it all depends just how far Miyamoto-san and Aonuma-san are willing to take Twilight Princess, with a true Revolution Zelda title likely in their thoughts at the very least.
There's no doubt slicing and slashing Moblins with a Revolution controller would put a whole new perspective on things...
UPDATE
Either Reggie has got his wires crossed or the situation has got a little murkier. In an interview featured on Engadget, Nintendo's most vocal spokesperson talks about Twilight Princess and suggests "...all of the GameCube games will be compatible only with GameCube accessories, so whether it's a WaveBird or whether it's a wired controller, you'll only be able to play those titles with those accessories. Essentially what we're saying is that Revolution titles are the only ones that will leverage the new controller."
So Twilight Princess as a GameCube title played on a Revolution won't support the controller... we're baffled!

This is a great one, Windwaker disappointed me but this one was a hit. I think its more to do with the graphics than anything else. This was enjoyable and entertaining. Im currently on my 3rd round of completing it.
