Wii gains High Capacity SD card support as Link returns to the DS...
As widely expected, Satoru Iwata came to the rescue of Wii owners' storage problems with confirmation that the Wii can now download and store WiiWare, Virtual Console titles, and Channels to High Capacity SD cards. The new compatibility is available via today's system update, but does require that games launched from the SD card will require an equivalent amount of internal Wii memory – so plenty of swapping around awaits it seems.
In addition Iwata-san used his keynote speech to announce a new Legend of Zelda title currently in development for the DS. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks employs the same control setup as Phantom Hourglass, while the early information centres around concept travelling across the world via a steam locomotive.
Some joy for the Wii hardcore, but there's very few things better than knowing a new Zelda is on the way. Expect further details shortly.
