Activision announces its next Spider-Man game at the New York Comic Con...
After some promo artwork was spotted in the run-up to the New York Comic Con last week, an official announcement for a film tie-in game of The Amazing Spider-Man movie appeared imminent, and now Activision has indulged fans by revealing the game and dishing out a debut trailer at the convention over the weekend.
The publisher hasn't released an official version of the trailer yet though - only shaky cam footage has emanated from NYCC - but some details were spilt nonetheless. Beenox will be developing the title following its Spider-Man run over the last couple of years on Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time, which launched last week. This next project will tie-in to next year's film, which is billed as a reboot for the silver-screen Spidey character.
Beenox is developing a separate story to the film for this tie-in, however, and the good news is that it will mark a welcome return to New York City. Early indications are that it's an open-world setting of sorts that will allow gamers to web-sling through NYC in the classic style, which has arguably been the best feature of any and all Spider-Man games past and present anyway.
