Japanese newspaper reports that Team Ninja may console jumping to Sony's next-gen machine [Updated]...

UPDATE: The statement issued by Tecmo that brought about the speculation that the Dead or Alive series was about to switch over to the PlayStation3 appears to have been the victim of a typo, with the statement apparently supposed to state that the next two DoA will appear on Xbox 360 and not PlayStation3. TVG will have further coverage of the Dead or Alive series in the future.

With the European release of Dead or Alive 4 on Xbox 360 just weeks away it seems that the franchise developer Team Ninja and publisher Tecmo may be jumping ship to produce DoA titles for Sony's PlayStation3.

Reports in one Japanese newspaper have suggested that Team Ninja are currently working on two titles for the next-gen machine but whether they'll end up being ports of DoA4 and Code Cronus or new titles isn't mentioned.

One thing is worth baring in mind: Tecmo and Team Ninja are yet to announce such a move so for the time being this remains rumour.

Dead or Alive 4 is set for release on January 27th for Xbox 360, we'll have more news shortly...
